SNOWSHOEING

Snowshoeing is permitted at Penobscot River Trails anywhere on our trail system. Our staff advises that snowshoeing occurs along the edges of the trails so that the spikes from the shoes do not deteriorate the track set for skiing. Please be respectful of skiers! We offer snowshoe rentals  – by donation only, at our Visitor’s Center.

WARMING HUTS

Pines and Ridges & Long Meadow Warming Huts are the two huts we have along our trail system. Pines and Ridges is located 3.7 miles out from our Visitor’s Center on the Riverside Trail. Long Meadow is located at trails end, 9 miles from the Visitor’s Center. Both of our huts are equipped with wood stoves, tables and chairs, and of course – beautiful views of Katahdin.

Pines & Ridges

Fat Tire Biking is permitted for our 2019-2020 season on our Tote Road only.
We strongly advise guests to use bikes only when it is under 32° due to the trails deteriorating quickly.
